Are they getting into a habit or what? These oafs have managed to make the best on the road into a mangled mess, again! This time it’s a white Lamborghini Gallardo convertible that lies somewhere in Shropshire beside a tree, mangled, crumpled and no more recognizable. Hmph! The bloke who was behind the wheel survived the crash and was taken to a hospital in another car that was around at the fateful hour. To make matters worse, the car wasn’t even owned by this particular slayer. It was hired by him and a group of friends who went drinking to The Cider House pub near Wootton. Even after the horrendous crash the guy didn’t even lose even a limb. I wonder how to penalize such an idiot in my own little way. The closest I got to a Lambo was that tattered poster I had hanging in the wall and here’s someone who borrows it, crashes it and then ends up in hospital, grinning away at relatives arriving with flowers (I hope bloody not!).

Lotus constructs Concept Ice Vehicle for Antarctic operations

After the gray terrain, it’s the White terrain gaining imperative significance as a region of development. If that wasn’t too comprehensible, Lotus is developing the Concept Ice Vehicle (CIV) to aid the research for the Moon Regan TransAntarctic Expedition. The propeller driven, bio-fuel powered vehicle measures 4.5 meters in length as well as width and holds an independent suspension all around. The lucrative part is the ice penetrating radar that help in detecting crevasses and it’s lightweightedness that allows one man to cart it across difficult terrain, which is particularly useful for mission-oriented explorers. It’s also got a ‘spiked foot’ under the cockpit (inspired by footwear technology) probably for stopping on icy terrain.If the CIV is way over the top for you, then take a look at the Econoline vehicles with 44” monster tires for making a chilly trip across the white deserts. Also check out the photo gallery of the CIV and two videos of the CIV where it looks no different than a three-legged insect taking a fleeting crawl on ice.

TOP 10 Chinese Rip-Offs!

Dramatic as this headline, I’m obviously not taking about the originals! Over the past couple of years we have noticed that many fake or rip-offs from China emerge no sooner than a gadget is announced. Cheekily enough the sellers offer a discount on bulk purchases and lure you to the world of fib. Here is a list of those Chinese clones that made it to our pages, and some that were found elsewhere. Whatever the case, these rip-offs caused a lot of amusement to our readers and bane to the manufacturers.
10) Fake Ferrari
This one really surprised me, I only thought that gadgets were ripped off but cloning cars is a bit hilarious! The $10K guarantees no safety features like its counterpart, and could in fact be a safety blooper. The Chinese should take a bow.
9) The iPhone Clone
The P168 one of the many iPhone rip offs that mushroomed around the globe, but what really took our case was that the phone supports dual SIM’s something which the iPhone lacks, the onboard software allows effective management between the two cards. The manufacturers have boldly written 2.0 Megapixel camera at the back but it is a 1.3 Megapixel camera as the maximum resolution supported is 1280 x 1024 pixels. The start up sound and graphics depict the Mac OS. How daring!
iPod Touch with a blush!
Even before we could finish putting up the original, we received a tip-off about the rip-off! Ironically the piece was available on Amazon. Apart from the flimsy icons it is indistinguishable from the real thing, it has a 2.8 inch touchscreen, 2 GB which stores 200 songs, Mini SD expansion slot (something which the iPod lacks), FM Radio, built in speaker and support for MP3, WMA, MPEG-4(AVI) and JPEG formats.
7) Nokia N95 imitation gives 8GB space
The Nokia N95 rip off has the exact dimensions but it’s without the goods. It actually contains just 256 MB (in SD form), and MP3/MP4 player, a 2MP camera and Bluetooth. It does have dual slider keyboards and has the rotating view.
6) Nokir E828 revenge of the Chinese copycats
Not a typo but there is actually a Chinese manufacturer by the name Nokir who makes mobile phones. The Nokir E828 is a rip off the Nokia N73 and it has a 2.6 inch QVGA touchscreen a feature all Nokia phones lack. The dual band GSM phone sports a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording. The onboard media player can playback popular audio and video formats. The clone does lack connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It connects to the host via USB 2.0 and comes preloaded with Java games.

Ads on the Clone Wii were all over the papers and now since we await the next gen of Wii, the Vii may also take the leap ahead.
4) PSP rip off called POPstation
POPstation a copy of the PSP is nothing like the original. Little else is know about it, except that it got very crappy reviews. However a fake is fake is a fake! So no justifications required here.
3) PolyStation 3 with a PS3 hangover
The PolyStation 3 hooks to your TV and has small screen that pops out of the side. A little bit of improvisation is also required, as you need to hold the console with little screen in one hand, and the keyboard in other hand.

Physicists devise plan for warp drive to travel faster than light

Star Trek fantasies of interstellar civilizations and voyages powered by warp drive may no longer be the exclusive domain of science fiction writers, with two physicists from Baylor devising a new scheme to travel faster than the speed of light. Associate Professor Gerald Cleaver and Richard Obousy have come up with a novel idea to produce a warp drive that they believe can travel faster than the speed of light, without breaking the laws of physics. A starship could “warp” space so that it shrinks ahead of the vessel and expands behind it. By pushing the departure point many light years backwards while simultaneously bringing distant stars and other destinations closer, the warp drive effectively transports the starship from place to place at faster-than-light speeds.
According to the physicists, scientists would require to harness a mysterious and poorly understood cosmic antigravity force, called dark energy. The dark energy is believed to be responsible for speeding up the expansion rate of the universe as time moves on, just like it did after the Big Bang, when the universe expanded much faster than the speed of light for a very brief time.
According to relativity theory, matter cannot move through space faster than the speed of light, which is almost 300,000,000 metres per second. But that theory applies only to unwarped ‘flat’ space.
There is no limit on the speed with which space itself can move: the spaceship can sit at rest in a small bubble of space that flows at “superluminal” - faster than light - velocities through normal space because the fabric of space and time itself (scientists refer to spacetime) is stretching.
According to Cleaver dark energy would be used to create the bubble: if dark energy can be made negative in front of the ship, then that patch of space would contract in response. “Think of it like a surfer riding a wave,” the Telegraph quoted Dr Cleaver, as saying. “The ship would be pushed by the spatial bubble and the bubble would be traveling faster than the speed of light,” he added. The new warp drive work also draws on “string theory”, which suggests the universe is made up of multiple dimensions. We are used to four dimensions - height, width, length and time but string theorists believe that there are a total of 10 dimensions and it is by changing the size of this 10th spatial dimension in front of the space ship that the Baylor researchers believe could alter the strength of the dark energy in such a manner to propel the ship faster than the speed of light.
